It is difficult to pinpoint the lowest point of Floyd Mayweather's bizarre beef with 50 Cent.

Perhaps it was the boxer claiming the rapper had herpes, or when 50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - challenged Mayweather to read a page of Harry Potter without stopping.

Whenever it was, the feud has shown a remarkable resilience since bursting on to our Instagram feeds eight years ago.

Back in 2012 50 Cent claimed Mayweather asked him to look after his promotions company while the boxer was serving time in prison for domestic assault.

The rapper insists he effectively established The Money Team company and began signing boxers to it - but when Mayweather was released, 50 Cent claims his request for his half of the money - believed to be $2million - fell on deaf ears.

"I'm sitting there going, 'When you gonna give me the money; when you gonna give me your half of the money back?' But I ain't trying to press him because he just got out of jail," he said at the time.

In response, Mayweather claimed 50 Cent was trying to remove fighter's long-time manager Al Haymon from the picture.

"I've always been a great friend to him; he's stayed at my house plenty of times, we travel, we laugh, we have fun," he told Complex earlier this year. If you choose not to be my friend anymore then so be it.

"I was doing time and I read the newspaper and it said, 'Congrats to 50 cent for getting his boxing licence for TMT Promotions'.

"When I got out we were riding in my Lamborghini and he was trying to remove Al Haymon. It took me from 1987 until now to build my brand. I said, 'Whatever you've got going on, let's just stay friends'.

"Then he said I owe him money; I don't owe anyone money."

Since then the pair's relationship has descended into a derogatory slanging match with even 50 Cent's apparent climb down in August taking a dig at Mayweather.

"Tell Floyd I said he won he is the greatest of all time and nobody, I mean nobody ,can ever take that away from him," he wrote. "What he's done with his life is amazing. I'm done with all of the back and forth. Now can someone please read this to the champ."

It wasn't always this way, however.

In 2007 50 Cent walked Mayweather to the ring for his fight against Oscar De La Hoya and did so again a year later when the boxer crossed over into WWE to take on Big Show at Wrestlemania XXIV.

Before his stint behind bars, Mayweather told XXL: "As far as boxing I think he is going to be involved with the promotion side, we might even have him fight on pay per view one time.

"We don't know what the future holds, but he is getting involved with boxing."

50 Cent even picked up his then friend from prison when he was released - but within a month was flirting with the enemy when he set up a promotional company with Manny Pacquiao.

Both men then passed up a $5m offer to fight each other put to them by Greek billionaire Alki David.

And so began a tirade of insults which has yet to be stemmed.

Even after his apparent peace offering, 50 cent continued to poke the bear as recently as this week.

And we can only assume the rapper's star is fading again such is his need to call out Mayweather for a 'fight'.

To be fair, what was a bonkers idea a few years ago now wouldn't seem so strange.

Because if Logan Paul can tempt Mayweather into the ring, why not Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson?
